Laboratory ventilation systems are among the largest and most impactful systems in the entire laboratory design and construction process. The effectiveness of the ventilation system directly affects the laboratory environment, the health of laboratory personnel, and the operation and maintenance of experimental equipment. Problems such as excessive negative pressure in laboratories, gas leaks from fume hoods, and laboratory noise have long plagued laboratory staff. These issues cause serious physical and psychological harm to personnel working in the laboratory for extended periods, and even to management and support staff working around the laboratory. A scientific and reasonable ventilation system requires good ventilation, low noise, ease of operation, energy conservation, and even the maintenance of comfortable indoor pressure differentials, temperature, and humidity.

Fume Hood Variable Air Volume Control

As the most important Class I protective equipment in chemical laboratories, fume hoods are subject to strict requirements in various countries regarding their face velocity. Typically, a constant face velocity of 0.5 m/s is required. Excessively high or low face velocities can lead to leakage hazards.

First, control other local exhaust ventilation.

For local exhaust ventilation facilities such as fume hoods, atomic absorption hoods, and reagent cabinets, the system should be able to maintain efficient control and safely and quickly exhaust gases.

Second, room pressure control. Under normal circumstances, it is required to maintain a negative pressure in the laboratory relative to the corridor to prevent cross-contamination to the office or production areas in the south garden.

Thinner energy consumption. While fully meeting safety requirements, significantly reduce operating energy consumption, including air conditioning and fan energy consumption.

VAV

VAV (Variable Air Volume) control system. A VAV control system is an air conditioning system based on air volume regulation. By adjusting the air supply volume, the quality and temperature of indoor air can be controlled. The VAV control system of an intelligent fume hood can automatically adjust the air supply volume according to different working conditions and pollutant concentrations in the laboratory, thereby achieving precise air quality control.

The VAV control system of an intelligent fume hood includes sensors, actuators, and a controller. Sensors can measure parameters such as indoor temperature, humidity, pressure difference, and pollutant concentration. The controller adjusts the working state of the actuators based on the feedback signals from the sensors to control the air supply volume.

Safety

Safety is based on compliance. Strict adherence to relevant regulations and requirements in Europe, America, and China is maintained. As hazardous laboratory equipment, the fume hood ensures a constant face velocity of 0.5 m/s.

Investment Savings

Optimized design based on future usage conditions strikes the optimal balance between initial investment and future ease of use, significantly reducing investment in air conditioning, ductwork, and equipment.

Energy Saving

Utilizing a variable air volume (VAV) control system, combined with effective operation and management, each fume hood can save up to 85% on energy, resulting in annual energy savings of 13,000 to 20,000 RMB. This offers a very high return on investment.

Environmental Protection

Based on green building environmental regulations and statistics provided by the EU and WHO, a single fume hood using VAV will reduce carbon emissions by at least 15 tons annually.

Comfort

The VAV system significantly reduces indoor supply and exhaust air volume, resulting in more stable and uniform airflow, better control of temperature and humidity, and reduced environmental noise.

Intelligence

The VAV system supports multi-dimensional data acquisition, transmission, and communication, laying the foundation for improved laboratory management in the future.
